se courses are designed for talented amateurs. All of these are paid for by those attending. - A few masterclasses, even one with the great man do not constitute "a formal opera training" by any stretch of the imagination. - Professional opera singers earn their living by treading the boards night a
fter night week-in week-out, year after year with professional opera companies. - Paul, has never earned a single penny from opera performance, other than winning a tv talent show in 1999 - the winnings funding masterclasses. - Paul has not performed since 2003. - He is not a professional opera sin

When Paul appeared on BGT the 3 auditions were 7 days, now it is weeks of high profile, X Factor 4 months.
Opportunity came up.
Would Villazon have gone in to opera if a professional opera singer had not been next door when he lived in Mexico. who encouraged him to do opera. Also he was on reality show as mentor for 6 weeks and it helped enhance his album sales.
Would Pavarotti born in "Italy" have gone in to opera had his father not been an opera singer and encouraged him.
Opportunity has to be taken.
